On Monday the Minister of Finance announced additional business assistance including those self-employed in the form of a Resurgence Wage Subsidy Scheme (RWS).

nz money 100s 50s generic n2New Zealand employers who have had, or expect to have, a revenue drop of at least 40% because of COVID-19, for a 14 day period between 12 August to 10 September, compared to a similar period last year can get it.  

Other eligibility criteria is similar to the previous wage subsidies.

The RWS payment is for two weeks of support only being $1,171.60 (585.80 per week) for a full-time employee and $700 ($350 per week) for a part-time employee. It applies across New Zealand.

Please note if you are already receiving the Wage Subsidy Extension (WSE) for your employee you can’t receive the RWS as well for the same employee.

The RWS will open for applications from 1pm on Friday 21 August 2020. Applications will close on 3 September 2020. Applications are made through the Ministry of Social Development.

The existing Wage Subsidy Extension Scheme (WSE) continues in place unchanged until 1 September 2020.
