The largest element of the package is the delivery of $5.1billion in wage subsidies to businesses and the delivery of support for workers needing to self-isolate, delivered through the Ministry of Social Development.

loan-730The Reserve Bank of Australia cut the cash rate to a record low this month but banks passed on only half of it at a retail level.

A similar outcome was likely in New Zealand should the RBNZ follow suit, with bank funding costs having risen sharply this year.
