loan-730The Reserve Bank of Australia cut the cash rate to a record low this month but banks passed on only half of it at a retail level.

A similar outcome was likely in New Zealand should the RBNZ follow suit, with bank funding costs having risen sharply this year.

Regardless of whether you want to be a short or long-term player it would seem to make sense to see what the Reserve Bank says on 10 September.
