Lyall graduated from the Auckland Technical Institute in 1968 and was admitted to the Institute of Chartered Accountants in 1971.
While studying to become an accountant, Lyall was employed by Foodstuffs (Auckland) Ltd in their Accounting Services Division and later in a role as Head Office Accountant.
After returning from overseas in 1973 Lyall joined Alliott NZ and became a Partner in 1974.
Lyall enjoys the personal contact he has with his clients, many of whom have been with the practice as long, if not longer, than he has.
In addition to his interest in all aspects of chartered accountancy, he also specialises in receiverships and liquidations.
He has developed a specialist interest in the role of advising on family trusts and, in particular, the role of professional trustees.
