An excellent way to reduce the cost of private health insurance is to have an excess on your policy.

Like car insurance, when a claim is submitted to your health insurance provider an agreed amount (the excess) will be deducted from the final amount you receive. By having an excess on your health insurance policy your premium may be reduced by anywhere from 5% to 40%.
