INSURANCE ADVICE
From Alliott Investments insurance specialist Gerard Gill

HEALTH INSURANCE – IT REALLY WORKS

Most people see the need for insurance, but dislike paying the premiums. However, when your child needs to see a specialist and may require an operation, you forget all about the premium. In our case, my wife and I visited the G.P. on a Thursday with our daughter, and had an appointment with a specialist on Monday.

Was I pleased we have health insurance? Yes – it really works. Talk to our specialist Gerard Gill about implementing health insurance for your family.

INVESTMENTS ADVICE
From Alliott Investments investment specialist David Burt

EVERYONE NEEDS ONE OF THESE FOR WHEN ALL ELSE FAILS

Good investment strategy involves a sensible spread across assets that have different characteristics (those last two words being critical). Technically this is called ‘Diversification’ and it is the most beneficial investment concept to have been developed in over half a century.

Of course, there is a downside. If you spread across different investments, you deny yourself the possibility of having all your money in what turns out to have been the single best investment option. However, this denial of opportunity is a small price to pay, given the slim chance of picking the single best investment ahead of time. And the even slimmer chance of repeating the trick.

If you sense that the weak link in your strategy is a lack of adequate diversification, talk to us. We can recommend an excellent, low cost investment that can be your anchor, your rainy day fund, the asset you can count on being there for you if all your other picks turn to custard. In today’s world, practically every investor should have one of these.

MORTGAGE ADVICE
From Alliott Investments mortgage specialist Andrew Smillie

LENDING MORE THAT 80% OF THE PURCHASE PRICE

You may have read in the paper this week that Westpac is now looking to lend more than 80% of the purchase price on any new property that you want to buy. Technically this has always been the case and therefore not really news (albeit the media seem to have missed this point). However the news is that you can still borrow up to 95% of the purchase price from a number of lenders. To find out more please contact Andrew.

INTEREST RATES

If your interest rate is due to come off its fixed rate, and you are wondering what to do, again please contact Andrew who will be able to assist.
